Congratulations on the birth of your child, a miracle of life shared with us by God. Baptism is an important celebration both for the immediate family and our community.The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. The Presentation / Naming ceremony takes place in the Mass one or two weeks prior to the Baptism and introduces the child to the Parish community.
Parents can choose to have the Baptism during the Mass:
alternatively, parents may choose a time outside of Mass.
* Strathalbyn 12 noon.
* Mt. Barker 1 pm.
It is the custom to offer a stipend to the priest for this service. The current recommendation is $100. Make whatever offering you feel you can afford. The stipend supports the priests of our Archdiocese.
The Baptismal Team helps prepare parents for the Baptism of their child. Two meetings are held over four weeks prior to the Baptism. The preparation sessions help parents to understand the elements of the Baptism Ceremony, choose various readings and prayers. and in the process gain a deeper understanding of their own faith.
The Steps to Take:
Your details will be passed on to the Baptism Team who will then contact you and invite you to the preparation sessions.

- Saturday evening Mass, 6.00 pm at Mt. Barker
- Sunday morning Mass, 9.00 am at Mt. Barker
- Sunday morning Mass, 10.45 am at Strathalbyn.

- Choose a Date and Time for the Baptism and the Presentation
- Choose God Parents (one to be a practicing Catholic)

- Fill in the details on the Application form.
