Children’s Liturgy of the Word
Children’s Liturgy runs on Sunday mornings during the 9am Mass at Our Lady of Mercy during school term, and sometimes in our other Masses as well.
All our Children’s Liturgy leaders hold a current Catholic Police Check and have received Child Safe Environments training. At least two responsible adults attend every session and parents are warmly welcomed to join us if this will make their children more comfortable. Children’s Liturgy is held in the Parish House.
In our sessions we read the Gospel Acclamation together and then prayerfully listen to the Gospel reading. The leader helps the children to understand what they have heard by asking ‘wonder questions’ (“I wonder why…..”, “I wonder if…...”).
There may be a simple craft activity, followed by a take-home worksheet sourced from Footprints in Faith by Katie Thompson.
Please ring Michelle in the parish office on 8391 1053 if you have any queries or if you would like to join the roster.
Children's Liturgy is currently taking a short break, and will recommence soon.
