Catholic Co-educational R-12 College in the Adelaide Hills.
St Francis de Sales College is located in the beautiful Adelaide Hills at Mount Barker and is richly blessed by dedicated staff, impressive students and supportive families. As a Catholic Co-educational R-12 College we aim to nurture in all students an appreciation of God's gifts, a passion for learning and a commitment to personal excellence.
The example of our patron saint, St Francis de Sales, inspires us to work with love and patience and to ensure that our community is united in holy friendship. The College is very fortunate to have a strong connection with the Mt. Barker/Strathalbyn Parish. Students and Staff regularly attend the Parish Mass each week, as well as leading a regular Youth Mass.

Principal’s Welcome
As a Reception to Year 12 Catholic College community in the Adelaide Hills, we pride ourselves on providing a supportive learning environment which you, as a family, are able to join as your child starts their schooling at age 5 and celebrate their graduation 13 years later. Such a long-term relationship between community, parish, student and family provides us the opportunity to work both in service to families and in partnership with families, in the development of the College’s Heart Values: Faith, Respect, Compassion, Integrity, Wisdom, Justice and Perseverance.
Excitingly, with the current development on site of our Catholic Early Care and Learning Centre for pre-school aged children, our College community’s partnership with our families will be able to commence even earlier. This wonderful development for our College is a further growth from the foundations of the St Scholastica school, opened on this site by the Sisters of Mercy in 1902, with our current College continuing to be positively impacted by the tradition and heritage of the Mercy sisters.
Central to all our work with our young people is our Community Commitment shared by students, staff and parents; focused on respectful relationships being the key to the provision of productive learning environments.
Our recently developed College-wide Vision for Learning calls us to work Together, to Discover and Grow, in an empowering and supportive environment that aims to inspire a love of learning and a commitment to excellence.
All members of our community are called by the words of St Francis de Sales:
“Be who you are and be that well”.

This student group at the College have a number of projects happening, that you may be able to assist with:
Development of Parish Land
The Yr 8 students at the College are currently working on a project to develop the Parish land adjacent to Our Lady of Mercy Church. The concept-design includes a prayer space with a labyrinth; a native garden and frog pond; and a nature play area. The space has been designed for parishioners, College students, and the broader Mt Barker community to use. The College is seeking assistance from parishioners for this project. If you have the relevant skills, time to assist, machinery or materials to lend or donate, the College would greatly appreciate it.
